New: @my.com Email – Designed for Mobile, Designed for You

Mobile_Only_RevisedWhen we launched myMail last November, we immediately saw requests come in asking if we could create an email service with the my.com domain. You told us that you liked the short my.com name and wanted a fresh, new email account that worked as well on mobile as myMail does.

Today, we are happy to announce @my.com email accounts on iOS smartphones/tablets and Android. We are bringing this new service to you with a few new twists we think you will find interesting. After all, the mobile world doesn’t need the same old email.

Mobile-Only Email
With @my.com, you register and access your email on your mobile device only. That’s right. Your smartphone or tablet is with you all the time and is your gateway for staying in touch with friends and family. Interactions are fast and easy. No desktop required. Besides, you’ve told us that you use your mobile for email access more than a desktop. By starting with mobile in mind, we are able to create an email experience that works the way you need it to on mobile – fast and easy. You’ll also enjoy 150 GB of free email storage. (That’s 10x what you get from Gmail.)

No Password Required – More Secure
No password? Wait, what? Gone are the days of forgetting your password, or worse, getting your password hacked. So why have one? When you register, you’ll receive an SMS code on the device you are using to confirm it is you. Once you use the SMS code, it is invalid for anyone else. You never need to login to your email because your phone is with you all the time. Additionally, emails sent and received within myMail are encrypted as an added security measure.

It’s Part of myMail
By now, you might be wondering how this all works. @my.com is part of myMail, the award-winning mobile app for managing multiple email accounts, like Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook and more. Now you can add @my.com to that list. All the great features of myMail, like push notifications, quick gestures for moving to folders or deleting, a clean user interface and spam/virus protection are there for you in a fresh, new email account. (You can learn more about myMail here.)

Existing myMail users will be prompted to create a @my.com email account when the app is updated on the device – the timing depends on your wireless carrier, the App Store and/or Google Play.

If you are new to myMail, you can download it on iOS here, or on Android here.

Be sure to get your fresh @my.com email address before all the good ones are taken!

As always, let us know in the comments section below what you think and visit us on Facebook or Twitter.

Can we please request a desktop/browser version? I do not use a mobile device a lot of the time. The desktop/browser version is much more easier and useful with attachments.

Having said that and continuing to request desktop/browser version, my.com is a short and sweet name and mobile-only is a novel concept just not useful for people like me at present :)

    Kind Regards

    • MyKatie

      Hi, thanks for the feedback.

  • Robert

So can anyone who knows your email log in with a phone number or can only one phone number ever work on it, and could you make a password option? Also, is there anyway you can access emails on a laptop

Access is confirmed via an SMS code that is sent to the phone number used in registration. Once the code is entered, there is no additional log in. As always it is recommended to lock your phone using the device’s built in password mechanism or third party equivalent. Very similar to instant messaging where you do not log in each time. thanks.

So only one phone number can log in to my.com? Also, is there away you can view your emails on a laptop?

    • MyKatie

Yes, one account per mobile number. At this time, @my.com is mobile only for smartphones and tablets. No desktop version. Not to say we won’t ever do one but not today. Thanks.

If I terminate my account, will I get a new chance to sign up with another name, and the same phone number?

    • MyKatie

Terminate signs you out of your account (requiring a new SMS to log back in). As noted in the app, it terminates your session (not your account). The team is taking feedback on how people are using my.com so your comment is appreciated.

  • Serg Kennedy

Полная ересь. Аккаунт нельзя удалить, а номер телефона -сменить.

    • MyKatie

Use settings>security to terminate. We are working on an update for the case where phone # has changed. Thanks.

  • korivka

Do you have plan to support Microsoft office outlook? Do work with mobile phone that is not very convenient. thanks for your Service

    • MyKatie

We support Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office 365 at this time. Thanks.

  • Pumba

Hello. How to delete my account @my.com? Or how to change dead cell, tied to the account?

    • MyKatie

      Hi,
Go into settings and select terminate account. If you have a new device because your previous one died, just download myMail again and request a new SMS using the same #. If your # changed, we will have a solution shortly.

      • Pumba

Я хочу удалить аккаунт. Как это сделать?

        • MyKatie

          Settings, terminate account.

          • Pumba

How to remove the account forever?

          • MyKatie

I see. Then make your request to info@corp.my.com and provide all the details.

          • Juanet74

No puedo acceder. Me pide el codigo y pongo el del ultimo sms recibido (sms que ni siquiera se si estoy pagando), y no funciona, no puedo acceder. Por favor ayuda.

          • MyKatie

Sorry to hear about the @my.com account issue. Please contact our support team and they can assist. info@corp.my.com. Please include details. Or use the ! icon in the app which will include your device info automatically. Thanks.

I have couple of questions regarding your service:

    1) Since you are now allowing to register name@my.com account, will I be able to check my mail on desktop browser sometime in the future;

    2) Your service doesn’t require any passwords, that’s totally fine, but what happens if I change my password and want to login to my my.com email from a new device?

    thanks

    • MyKatie

      Hi,
      1) At this time, we do not plan a browser based version of myMail. But that could change as we see customer requests and how people are using email. Right now, the trend is for mobile use so that is where we started.

      2) If you get a new (or additional) device with same phone number, just download myMail and request a new SMS. If your phone number changes, we will have a solution for that soon.
      thanks.

    你好!My官方,如果你们能看得懂中文,接着往下看。。。
    我想在这里给贵团队提出几点建议及意见,既然贵平台准备走向世界,做主流邮箱APP客户端。
    那么根据中国公民的使用习惯,提出以下几点:
    一:建议推出中文版APP,可以进行手机号换绑,因为不可能一个人永久性使用那个手机号。
    二:建议推出PC客户端,因为绝大部分人首发邮件还是用PC,还有一些附件资料用手机端无法预览,下载查看也是个大问题
    三:建议推出密码功能,首先对贵公司的这一点表示很大的支持,这样在安全性上有很大的提高,但是在使用方面明显不方便,手机接收验证码的前提是你必须时时将手机放身边,要是手机忘带了接收到重要的文件怎么办?建议贵公司可以在安全进行安全锁定,由用户选择是否绑定手机登陆
    四:建议贵站推出网页版用户中心,这样可以便捷的管理自己的个人资料!
    要是贵站工作人员看到请予以回复!谢谢!我的邮箱havelove@nolove.cn

Hi, — I hope my translator translated your message correctly and that you can understand our response.
      1. For those who have changed their phone number, we will have a solution for that shortly.
      2. The mobile first approach is based on how people are now using email for fast communication. Will we ever do a browser based version? We’ll keep our eyes on how trends change.
      3. You only need to receive an SMS code upon registration. Thereafter access to your account does not require an SMS code. Secure your account further by securing your phone screen.
      4. See #2 above, but if we do a web version in future, your comment is noted.
      thanks.

    试试能不能发中文

    • MyKatie

Currently myMail is available in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Russian. There will be additional languages but which ones and when are not available to say yet. Thanks.

  • sanalalemci

You say “Be sure to get your fresh @my.com email address before all the good short ones are taken!”
Yet you don’t let us take names that are shorter than 6 characters. Pffffs. If you do something and brag about it, you better do it well, or just don’t do it at all.

    • MyKatie

Point taken! We are making adjustments to that. The reason 6 or more characters are needed is to avoid obvious names that would receive a lot of spam that even the best spam filters like ours would not be able to handle.

      • Guest

I’m glad at the time I know that you offer the short and very beautiful @my.com address. I quickly sign up on day one for my name which has less than six characters and discover that it isn’t allowed, so I end up with my 6 characters @my.com which is the same as my gmail account. After that, I wonder why I have to switch to @my.com because the username is the same as my gmail, and gmail still strong on this kind of service (and of course, more accessible). I think i’m not the only one who hope that someday, if we quick enough, we’ll get MYNAME@EMAIL. Sadly, that day didn’t come along with @my.com.

  • Denis A. Lykov

    … where are you “NAME@my.com”???

  • Denis A. Lykov

    … OS Windows Phone 7.8???

  • Odiebla

I’ve tried to sign up with my dutch phone number, but I don’t receive the SMS. What do I do?

    • MyKatie

There is an option to have the SMS resent. If you have tried that and still do not receive an SMS, please contact our support at info@corp.my.com with your details. thanks.

  • Андрей Иваныч

    Hello!
New – it is, of course, great! But! Why bypass the party such a wonderful OS Windows Phone 8/8.1???
Like me, and I think everyone who prefers mobile devices WP8 + you get this opportunity.
I wish the development in this regard.
    Thank you.
    Sorry for the Google translation

    • MyKatie

Hello — thank you for your feedback. Our development team is currently focusing on iOS and Android but we are keeping an eye on Windows Phone and the number of requests we get for it. For now though, with limited resources and expertise in iOS and Android, we continue to enhance our apps to meet customer requests on those platforms.

      • Андрей Иваныч

Thank you! We look forward to!

        Best Regards! Andrey K

Please, +1 future user that wants to use WP8 app for your my.com service.

  • Андрей Иваныч

    Здравствуйте!
Новое – это, конечно, здорово! Но! Почему обходите стороной такую прекрасную ОС Windows Phone 8/8.1 ???
Хотелось и мне, и, думаю, всем, кто предпочитает мобильные устройства на WP8+ получить данную Вами возможность.
    Желаю развития в этом отношении.
    Спасибо.

    • MyKatie

Thank you for the feedback. There is no development timeline for Windows Phone at this time. That could change as we keep an eye on the platform and its adoption.

keep up the really great work, the design and quality are incredible!

By the way, I’d like to know how can you pay all your servers if all your apps are free without premium version. I’m not trying to be ironic, it’s out of mere curiosity!

    • MyKatie

Thanks. Asking about how we pay for things is a fair question. In addition to myMail (and myChat) which are free, we also have mobile games. These games are free to download and play but have in-game purchases for players who want to enhance their character or do things faster. And we will have PC based MMORPG games too that also will have in-game purchases. That’s how we keep the lights on :)
