When we launched myMail last November, we immediately saw requests come in asking if we could create an email service with the my.com domain. You told us that you liked the short my.com name and wanted a fresh, new email account that worked as well on mobile as myMail does.
Today, we are happy to announce @my.com email accounts on iOS smartphones/tablets and Android. We are bringing this new service to you with a few new twists we think you will find interesting. After all, the mobile world doesn’t need the same old email.
With @my.com, you register and access your email on your mobile device only. That’s right. Your smartphone or tablet is with you all the time and is your gateway for staying in touch with friends and family. Interactions are fast and easy. No desktop required. Besides, you’ve told us that you use your mobile for email access more than a desktop. By starting with mobile in mind, we are able to create an email experience that works the way you need it to on mobile – fast and easy. You’ll also enjoy 150 GB of free email storage. (That’s 10x what you get from Gmail.)
No Password Required – More Secure
No password? Wait, what? Gone are the days of forgetting your password, or worse, getting your password hacked. So why have one? When you register, you’ll receive an SMS code on the device you are using to confirm it is you. Once you use the SMS code, it is invalid for anyone else. You never need to login to your email because your phone is with you all the time. Additionally, emails sent and received within myMail are encrypted as an added security measure.
It’s Part of myMail
By now, you might be wondering how this all works. @my.com is part of myMail, the award-winning mobile app for managing multiple email accounts, like Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook and more. Now you can add @my.com to that list. All the great features of myMail, like push notifications, quick gestures for moving to folders or deleting, a clean user interface and spam/virus protection are there for you in a fresh, new email account. (You can learn more about myMail here.)
Existing myMail users will be prompted to create a @my.com email account when the app is updated on the device – the timing depends on your wireless carrier, the App Store and/or Google Play.
Be sure to get your fresh @my.com email address before all the good ones are taken!
